ISL 7 Round of 8
by unknown · 2012-09-19
Ah, the Round of 8. So it turns out, Zergs are really good. The racial balance, now 3T, 4Z, 1P, gives us many TvZs this round. Hiro is still the lone survivor of Aiur, striving to be the first Protoss champion. Now, onto the picks
---
* Noble (69.2% vZ) vs Hide (77.8% vT)
All Time Series : Noble 3 - 4 Hide
This rounds top matchup pits the best zerg in the world, the Butcher known as HidE facing off against the top performing terran and the ELO chart's #3, TORRES . Back in Prop 19 ISL, Noble took out Hide 3-2 in the Round of 4, a pretty stunning victory against the best ZvTer in the game. Since then, Hide has shook off that defeat and become even better, knocking Noble off in the CMCS Winners Bracket final as well as gaining the number 1 ELO spot. While Noble is still one of the top terran players, Hide is just too much for him to handle.
Prediction - Noble 1 - 3 Hide
* Echoic (62.5% vT) vs Ghost (70% vZ)
All Time Series : Echoic 0 - 1 Ghost
Echoic showed inspired play last week as he defeated Turdman 2-0. Sadly though, the old veteran has to go up against this years last standing Royal Road candidate who just came off a 2-0 sweep of his on of the a former champion, the Legend Killer, Ghost . As good as Echoic is at ZvT, Ghost's grasp of the match up lately is unbelievable, winning 8 of his last 10 TvZs. That, along with the momentum that he will be bringing into this match gives him the advantage. You can never sleep on Echoic though, the wily veteran might pull something out of his big bag of trips.
Prediction - Echoic 0 - 3 Ghost
* Mafia Zerg (81.6% vP) vs Hiro (62.1% vZ)
All Time Series : Never Played
ZvP imba huh? Nothing to write about here? Well, Mafia Zerg lost to a Protoss just today, dropping a game to hiim14 . Along with Misaya 's recent dominance, this match might be closer than it seems. Hiro has won 8 of his last 10 PvZs, and has shown time after time his resilience. The games best PvTer will be hard pressed, going into his weakest match up compared to Mafia's best. Mafia does have somewhat of a tendency to under perform occasionally. If both players play to the best of their ability though...
Prediction - Mafia Zerg 3 - 0 Hiro
* Xello (75.9% vZ) vs Birdman (76.7% vT)
All Time Series : Xello 5 - 4 Birdman
Our second revenge match of the round pits the Birdjwa facing up against the Birdhunter Xello , one of the few players to have a winning record against BIRDMAN . With all the recent changes, including moving teams, Birdman has had a lot on his plate. Xello has camped it up back at FTS headquarters, and he definately wants to get revenge for Birdman defeating his teammate, Kolll . Birdman wants to best Xello to get revenge for all the times Xello has beaten him. While the rule for predictors are to never bet against a bonjwa, I shall do so against, for the second time in the row.
Prediction - Xello 3 - 2 Birdman

Good luck to all players participating in the next round! Hopefully we will have some exciting Winners Interviews soon. Stay classy Shakuras Managers.
