Violet ISL Interviews : Groups E-H
by unknown · 2012-12-07
So me and FearlessMango have split up our interviews, and as such we will have different articles to post. Hope you enjoy!
---
Kolll
======
LB : Kolll you advanced first out of your group, who was your toughest opponent and why?
>Kolll : It has to be Harmony . I played him in the last round of ISL already and he defeated me on Fighting Spirit. It took everything i had back then to win the following two maps. This time it was a bit easier though because i had a lot of time to analyse his games and prepare strategies accordingly.
LB : You and Harmony have had quite a few run-ins. You are expected to play CrazyHydra in the next round. He has somewhat surprisingly eliminated MLP silver medalist Blungy in the last round. What do you think of CrazyHydra ?
> Kolll : CrazyHydra may not be the most talented player, but he's definitely one of the most hard working. His style seems kinda wonky at times (well what do you expect with a name like Crazy Hydra). By now he has shown that he can beat everyone if he puts his mind to it. Except HidE .
LB : Thanks for the interview! Any shout outs? Who helped you most in your group matches?
>Kolll : Shout out to Protoss in general for being bad. And special thanks to imitati0n for his advice, keep on imitating!
---
#Harmony
LB : As I predicted, Harmony you came out in second place in your group. How did you practice leading up to your matches?
>Harmony : I had a lot of doubters going into these matches. I've been told that my skill set was far too rounded. Hopefully I can finally shed that image with these wins.
I went to work extremely hard on my ZvZ. I was a little disappointed in how I lost to Kolll but he's an extremely good player, so I'm not too upset. I was extremely confident ZvP and knew that I had a good chance against Sobong Moon Sik-hyung (Tatatata ). So I put little time into practicing ZvP. However his build caught me extremely off guard and I got lucky with the W.
LB : With your upcoming opponent likely to be Xello , arguably the top terran right now, how do you expect to fare against him, as you practiced ZvZ and ZvP for the group stage.
>Harmony : Honestly, I heavily respect him for his massive experience in this game. However, in terms of raw skill, I think I'm superior. Luckily this disastrous proleague season's over and I'll have time to rest before the match. I managed to steal Jo Guk-hyung (Huskar ) as my vT partner before Pung Jo (StaRbouNd ) did, so that'll help a lot.
LB : So there is a possibility that you might meet StaRbouNd in the finals. What do you think about that prospect?
>Harmony : LOL, yeah right.
LB : Hahaha. Well any final shout outs?
>Harmony : I'd like to thank Woe Yeon-dongsaeng (Ezkiel ) for using his time off to help me with my build orders. I'll definitely treat him to dinner some time.

#BIRDMAN
Editors note : This is the first Birdman interview conducted by WTM instead of yesplz
LB : Birdman is back baby! Are you pleased with your victory?
>BIRDMAN : Oh... What can I say now? To be honest I was quite confident on my victory today (smiles) Although, if you had asked me this very same question couple months ago, I would not have been so optimistic due to bad performance. I am really happy to have gotten my mindset back to what it used to be!
LB : I hear you have been really cutting back on the cocaine lately, and switched to happy pills. Did the coke withdrawal lead to the string of bad results that you had?
>BIRDMAN : Yeah I think so. Now that I am through that I think I will destroy everyone again (smiles)
LB : You play Hatred the next round. What do you think of him?
>BIRDMAN : He is just another zerg that I have beaten twice before. Shouldn't be a problem (smiles)
LB : Stunning, I see the new meds have helped mellow you out. Any final shout outs?
>BIRDMAN : I hope that Whisperkill (Team 69) makes it back to Proleague, it's always fun playing against them!
---
#Don Bilbo
LB : I understand that this is the last season you will be playing under Free Beer. Has that affected your training at all?
>Don Bilbo : Yes it definitely has. I enjoy the company of my teammates and since I realized that this is our last season together we went out partying a lot. Even OJCaramel joined us although he is only 14 (recently 15) years old, so he had to use the identity card of an "adult" who looks like him (a chubby/pimpled child with horsy teeth and jug ears). Luckily tslStrange was around. Obviously the whole team is alcohol-addicted as the team name indicates, but the last season has been even harder with more hangovers than ever. As you can imagine it wasn't easy to find time to practice. In addition everybody knows the rest of team Free Beer sucks so it's not really a challenge to train with them. The "practice 1v6 against mates" is getting pretty boring.
LB : You played every member of Group F. In your opinion, what was the hardest match?
>Don Bilbo : Definitely BIRDMAN . Although I really wanted to beat Boram , since we were in the same league in my first season and played twice. Against Abadan i was pretty confident... I mean he is Protoss ¯\(ツ)/¯
LB : Haha. Well good luck in your next match against Mafia Zerg . Any shout-outs?
>Don Bilbo : Thanks and actually i have a lot of shout-outs:
Arsenal my long time buddy and old mentor better improve your drinking skills!
Setzer keep smiling you'll be able to beat terrible zergs one day!
MJ stop making Weedk a sad panda!
Wrath keep being a good ace!
galaXy get younger already!
Kefka lol 31 - 2 noob
Last but not least shout-out to everyone who has beaten me in a league match this season! (no not ISL, I hate you guys)

#Nal_rA
LB : Nal_ra is moving on. Were there any matches that were difficult for you?
It was here where I was stopped by EG security, and in my everlasting quest to deliver good interviews, I sat down with PuMa .
>PuMa : Nal_rA is not available for any comments. Unlike his former manager at Team 83, we are taking his condition very seriously. He is not allowed to do anything but eat, sleep, and practice. This includes taking interviews. I am sorry for the inconvenience.
LB : Well, what does Nal_rA think of his future opponent?
>PuMa : He does not care. He is the King, and he is focused only on one man, HidE . Everyone else is a spectator at the clash that shall happen.
At this point, Puma started mumbling some scary mumbo jumbo. I got the heck out of there real quick

#TORRES
LB : You have been quite a surprise making it out of your group. What influenced your sudden success?
>TORRES : To be completely honest, I didn't even think I would make it out of that group and I know many predictions didn't have me advancing either. After the first match with Nal_rA , I sorta had that feeling in the back of my mind like, "Well, I expected this." Then I saw that chauvinism would be my opponent in the loser's match, I figured I may as well have been eliminated since he had an 80%+ win rate in Proleague this season. He also beat Noble twice this season, so I didn't have high hopes going into our match. I would say I caught a bit of luck and that helped me manage the match against him. Immediately afterward, I found out that my final opponent would be .iloveoov . Now, at this point, I really began to think that I was eliminated. I mean, he has so much more experience with this whole ISL thing than me. But again, I was a bit lucky and I guess made less mistakes than he did to win the match. I was shocked when it was over, but then I remembered that he beat me once in a challenge match, so it's all good.
LB : Now, you have the privilege of meeting HidE next round. Can you pull another miracle?
>TORRES : Last time I checked, I don't have any supernatural powers that'll let me overcome such a skill gap as large as the one between HidE and myself. In short: lolno
LB : Now you're one of the more unknown players left in the ISL. Do you have anything to tell everyone? Who is Cyclicly?
>TORRES : I've always considered myself a player that tries to do as much as I can for the team. I've been here with most of these guys since the beginning, when the team was formed 6 seasons ago. At my age and for someone of my caliber, I'm glad to say I've finally made it to the top 16 of an ISL, even if it took a while. Among all of these players, I'm pretty sure I would lose to any of them in a one-on-one set, so I'm just gonna savor the moment until I'm knocked out this Saturday.
LB : Well good luck, and I hope you enjoy the moment. Any final shout-outs? Anything to say to your opponent?
>TORRES : Yes, I'd like to give a shout-out to our sponsors and my teammates for taking time out of their off-season to practice with me this week. As for HidE , go and get your back-to-back ISL gold. Do it for the swarm (sorry TORRES ).

LB : Hello 1, and may I be the first to welcome you back to the Ro16. After missing it for 2 seasons, how are you feeling right now?
>1 : it does feel good to finally get revenge against TORRES after all of these seasons. However, I'm feeling a little bit nauseous right now because I just found out that my Ro16 opponent will be StaRbouNd , the same guy who knocked me out of the Ro16 last time.
LB : Surely your TvT is much improved since the last showing, as you overcame a such strong rival!
>1 : Yes. It has! My TvT has been very strong recently and I hope to use this to carry myself past the Ro16. Having a team of strong terrans does pay off in these situations. However, last time, I was almost certain that I would beat StaRbouNd and I lost. I guess I'll have to change that this time.
LB : Well best of luck to you, as you hope to TvT your way farther and farther. Any shout outs?
>1 : Thank you. I'd like to give a to shout-out pmaldwFan. He's been doing my laundry every day and it feels good to play starcraft in fresh clothing.

#TORRES
LB : Hello Noble, and congrats on your advancement. Would you consider your group particularly easy? Tell us your thoughts about it.
>TORRES : Nothing ever comes easy, I've learned that a handful of times this season during my league matches. Although, I will say that was I confident in advancing from the group. While 1 beat me pretty effortlessly in the winner's match, I didn't let it get me to me since I knew I could beat either of the players I would be matched up against. It just so happened to be a TvP, a match-up I'm really comfortable with.
LB : You are the last player to eliminate HidE from tournament play, and have meat up with BIRDMAN numerous times in tournaments. How do you think you will fare against the Zerg Lieutenant, Badger ?
>TORRES : Ignoring my previous results against him, with the way the swarm have been playing this past season and in this ISL right now, I think it would be extremely difficult to defeat Badger . Not only is he a really good player, I'd even put him on par with Hide, so if they are to meet in the finals it would be a really tight match. The only way I would beat him is if I suddenly became the luckiest person in the world, and even then I imagine it would be a 2-1 result. There's no chance of a 2-0 in my favor.
LB : Well good luck in the Round of 16. Do you have anyone you'd like to thank?
>TORRES : I'd just like to give thanks to our sponsors for supporting the team, as well as the fans for showing up to our matches even though we didn't have a good season. As for my personal fans, it will be an uphill battle against Badger , but I hope to see you out there in full support.

And thus ends my bunch of the interview. Good luck to all (gogo noble and don bilbo). MrRapid replied, but he said he wasn't able to participate in interviews, therefore, I made up the Puma interview. Hope you enjoyed it. I also edited here and there. Dedicated to FreshD. Stay drunk, my friend
